Birding in the Cape Lookout National Park and the surroundings is excellent, but inaccessible to those who have no boat transportation.

Cape Lookout Adventures has two means of getting you into these remote areas, via kayak or motorboat. We will be glad to assist you in any way that we can, by providing you with the transportation, or in giving you information about recent sightings.

Carteret County also has its own bird group which meets for field trips once a month. The group which is very informal, is called the "Tom Quay Bird Group", named after Dr. Tom Quay, ornithology professor at N. C. State University, who has also taught us some of his techniques.
